Location Found - Great Plains rat snakes prefer open grassland or lightly forested habitats, but are also found on coastal plains, semi-arid regions, as well as rocky, moderately mountainous regions.

Predators - Common kingsnakes suffer predation by birds such as hawks and roadrunners, by animals such as badgers and raccoons, and reptiles such as other snakes.
Reproduction # of offspring and incubation time length - Females lay up to several dozen eggs that hatch after 2-2.5 months of incubation.
Location Found - Open areas are preferred, particularly grassland, but also chaparral, oak woodland, abandoned farms, desert, low mountains, sand, and any type of riparian zone, including swamps, canals and streams.
